Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a hot topic, and rightfully so. According to the EPA, the average American spends up to 90% of his/her time INDOORS! You are probably thinking “That doesn’t sound right”. Well let’s take a look at how we spend our time.
Right off the bat, most of us at least try to get 8 hours sleep per day, there’s 33%; then, (except for those who work outdoors, which is, by far, a large minority of us) we spend another 8 or 9 hours at work or eating lunch indoors, now we are up to 67%; we spend another 3 to 4 hours indoors with our family or friends eating dinner, socializing, etc.; finally we have miscellaneous other activities indoors, things like shopping, movies, or other entertainment activities which will vary depending on the person. In many areas, there is an additional hour or so in our cars commuting. All in all, that is by far, the majority of our time spent indoors.
Health and medical experts have, for more than a hundred years recognized that being outdoors in fresh, natural air is good for your health. Fresh air helps us sleep better, helps make our immune systems function better, helps us breathe better, helps our brains function better, and even helps wounds heal better.
It would stand to reason than that spending so much time indoors is less than ideal from a health standpoint. Our bodies were designed by our Creator to live and function outdoors! Our lives are different from the way we lived for the thousands of years since we were created. We live and work in homes and buildings that are very close to being air tight. Our air conditioning and air circulation systems are breeding grounds for unhealthful components in our indoor air. As mentioned, we spend a vast majority of our time indoors, not out in nature as we did when we were created.
Unfortunately for us, indoor air is not as healthy (it is often downright unhealthy) as outdoor air. Indoor air has dust mites, dust mite feces, skin particles, dust, chemicals (Volatile Organic Compounds called VOC’s) from cleaners, carpets, upholstery, wall coverings, paint, pet dander and pollens or other allergens floating around in it. Also, there are often cooking, pet and other odors present in indoor air. All of this can be unhealthful for children and other living things.
Outdoor air, on the other hand is entirely different. Nature treats outdoor air by using the sun, moisture in the air, wind and the naturally occurring gases to create unstable elements in the air which continually clean freshen and ENERGIZE the air. Outdoor air is not naturally pure; it has impurities and odors from decaying vegetation, dead animals, and animal wastes as well as pollens and other things in it. However, Nature, through the process mentioned above creates components in the air which attach to, and change the molecules of these impurities into other, harmless molecules resulting in energized, ORGANIC, fresh, natural air. What do we mean by “organic” air? In Nature, there are all those various components in the air that we never think about. Those components are absolutely necessary and they are renewable; they are always present in the air. Because indoor air doesn’t have the energy present to renew all of these components and keep everything in balance the air gets stale and stagnant. Nature always maintains a balance and that is why it is so invigorating and refreshing.
So indoor air isn’t as good for you as fresh, outdoor air, that is just a fact of life….so what can we do about it? You may have noticed that you see all kinds of advertisements for everything from air “fresheners” (just covering one set of odors with other odors from chemicals & perfumes) to air “filters” which try to take the larger particles out of the air, leaving the smaller, more dangerous ones which pass right into your bloodstream; and air “purifiers” which are often just an air filter with a better quality HEPA filter in them, which still doesn’t remove the small, harmful particles, or utilize ultraviolet light and or a “negative ion generator” and ozone to try to take these particles, impurities and odors out of the air. The problem is that they concentrate on trying to “clean” the air. That’s good, but it’s only half of what’s needed. Air needs to be fresh and energized as well. These devices claim to treat anywhere from 150 square feet of air space to up to 3000 square feet. It is worthy to note that since they cannot affect air through doors and walls; they are, in fact, limited to spaces that are not closed off by walls or doors, regardless of what they claim as coverage. Also important is the fact that they can only treat the air that is drawn through their filters. As you can see, these devices are not very effective and can cost up to about a $1000 depending on their configuration and how much of the marketing costs the manufacturers load into the price.
“Air Purification” has grown to be a very large market but, unfortunately, is mostly only effective for generating profits for the manufacturers.
Air Naturalization
There is a new technology, however, that is proving to be VERY effective. It is called Air Naturalization. The dictionary defines the verb “naturalization” as ”making like nature”. The concept of Air Naturalization is to do just that…make the indoor air like natures outdoor air using the same principles that Nature uses to Freshen, Clean and Energize indoor air and make it Organic like outdoor air. Fresh, energized, outdoor air helps you breathe better and get more oxygen into your bloodstream.
This new technology is employed in a revolutionary new product by AirRestore, called the Air Naturalizer™. This product is unique in the market because it uses no filters, no chemicals or perfumes and requires little or no cleaning. Since there is no filter, there is no ongoing maintenance or filter replacement costs required sometimes several times per year.
The Air Naturalizer works by electronically replicating the process nature uses to treat outdoor air. It restores energy into indoor air creating hydroxyls, peroxides and other components which are sent out into the air as nature does to actively seek out impurities and viruses/bacteria, and other undesirables and attach to them and change them molecularly. It also causes particles which can be so small that they pass through even HEPA filters to bind together and fall out of the air just as nature does. Like nature, it also enables our bodies to get more oxygen into our systems so our immune system, brain and organs function more efficiently. When our bodies get sufficient oxygen we sleep better and are more alert.
Obviously the Air Naturalizer is not adding oxygen to the air. What it does is, like nature; create unstable molecules in the indoor air which energizes the air. The energy then causes your body to produce sufficient quantities of normal thin mucus. Mucus, in its normal state, which is clear and watery, is essential to lubricate our respiratory system and trap impurities and allow them to be expelled. Indoor dry air gets an overabundance of positive ions which often causes the mucus to thicken and inhibit the transfer of oxygen from your lungs into your bloodstream. The Air Naturalizer enables indoor air to be organic and energized which helps keep the respiratory mucus thin so it can do its job.
While some air “purification” manufacturers use negative ion generators to flood the air with negative ions, in nature, everything is balanced, in other words there should be a balance between the positive and negative charge of the air. Flooding the air with negative ions isn’t really the answer. The goal is to make the air balanced like nature does. That is what the Air Naturalizer does. In short, without adding chemicals, using filters, or other artificial means, the Air Naturalizer “restores the energy to indoor air to make it act like outdoor air”.
In recognition of the fact that no device can affect air behind walls and doors, AirRestore has designed the Air Naturalizer System to be a discrete, efficient and affordable system that is used where it needed. Each small (only 4½” tall) Air Naturalizer Unit can treat an area of up to 800 square feet. The idea is to put them in the areas of your home or place of business where they are needed. There are very few if any spaces that are one, unobstructed open area, so a “Whole Home System” consists of four discrete systems which are capable of treating the air in up to 3,200 square feet. These units can be acquired as single units, a two system “Studio Pack” or a four system “Whole Home System”. The “Whole Home System” covering 3,200 square feet has a suggested list price of just $410 compared to nearly $1000 for one of the 3,000 square foot “Purifier” systems that will, in fact, only cover that much if it is a single open space.
In summary, the real difference between Air Naturalization and Air Purification is that while air purifiers and their associated products try to artificially strip the air of the things they can, but leaves the truly harmful components in the air, the Air Naturalizer, in fact, actually cleans, freshens and Energizes your indoor air to make it act like FRESH, CLEAN, ORGANIC AIR LIKE THAT FOUND OUTDOORS IN NATURE!
